South Bristol Residence
An older cape after an extensive renovations and additions now includes a completely new updated façade with all new added dormers, windows & doors to the exterior, new exterior trim detailing and shingle siding vs. existing clapboards and many additional features. The interior spaces included opening up a variety of rooms to optimize a more open plan concept layout, additional new bedrooms and bathrooms and completed by a new main entrance. The overall exterior design concept involved bringing more natural light into the interior spaces and maximizing the views to the water through an extensive use of new extra tall French doors leading to a large stone terrace. The use of the 6 lite glazing pattern was carried through to the French doors and reinterpreted for an updated feel by carrying the muntins across the top of the French door units. By carrying the muntins across the top only, this allowed for more uninterrupted views to the water and immediate surrounding landscape but addressed the history of the 6 over 6 original muntin patterns of a more traditional double hung window.
