Sustainable / Passive Residence
This passive residence on Pemaquid Point boasts panoramic bold ocean views featuring tall, expansive unobstructed glass along the entire length. Awning units set low and high allow natural ventilation circulation creating a comfortable living environment through natural stack effect. Modern glazing technology allows motorized units to be out of reach.
Simple opposing building forms stagger maximizing views. The first flow is cantilevered over the lower level to create a natural canopy and outdoor living spaces. Siding & trim made from recycled fly ash create clean line details made from green renewable materials. Deep eaves help with solar glare which can be extreme on bold ocean exposed building designs and help control internal heat build up in peak daylight hours.
