Walpole Residence
This transitional Shingle Style residence on the Damariscotta River blends the relaxed character of a traditional Maine summer home with refined contemporary detailing. The composition is anchored by steeply pitched gables, shingle-clad walls, and a collection of carefully scaled roof forms that give the house a distinctive, informal silhouette. Generous multi-pane windows and French doors connect the interior to expansive river views, while the broad terrace creates an inviting outdoor living and dining space overlooking the landscape. A light, natural palette of painted shingles, stone, and wood reinforces the coastal setting, complemented by crisp trim and finely crafted architectural details. The enclosed glass conservatory provides a luminous focal point and extends the living spaces toward the water. Set among native trees, granite outcroppings, and seasonal foliage, the residence feels rooted in its Damariscotta setting while offering a fresh interpretation of the classic New England Shingle Style tradition.
